Wow, what a surprise when we arrived at the cabin - it is wonderful. We enjoyed Mt Mitchell - Deep trail was our favorite hike and the smell of balsam fir trees was divine! In the cabin we enjoyed the grill, the deck, the fireplace and the fabulous view! Your place is very enjoyable and we will recommend it to others. Thank you!

We fell in love with the house.... It's so gorgeous here we are considering squatting...Game night again after a wonderful dinner on the deck. The Simons took the Woodwards on this go-round. Plenty of drinks and laughs, we all can't wait to come back here.

Our party had a great time - four brothers reuniting from CA, NC, TN and GA after 21 years. Treetops could not have been a better place! We ate together, played golf and just enjoyed the serenity of your beautiful location! The cabin was great, the accomodations were perfect. :-)Bob, John, Marty, Charles
PS - Treetops got many compliments while we were here and I did too for booking it! - Marty

We all enjoyed your cabin. The shaded "Treetops" deck and a good cup of coffee were my favorite. Our 2 sons & their family joined us part of the time and everyone had something to do and had fun. We also worked and cleared more on our nearby acreage. Thanks for sharing!

We enjoyed our honeymoon here at the cabin very much! It was the perfect escape for Nick and I. We are from the beach so everything here was so different for us. We went on adventures and played like kids again. We want to come back and bring family and friends. It really felt like home for a week, the deck is awesome. Thank you for the activity list - we went rafting, hiking, ziplining and saw the waterfalls. Thank you!

It took us about 3 days to relax. Didn't turn on TV until 4 days into our vacation. Jake played lots of golf, I painted and took the dogs to Roaring Fork Falls twice.... the best part of our trip was doing the zipline at Plumtree Canopy. OMG! What fun. We added a bunch of brochures to your wonderful notebook - the notebook was so helpful. Thanks for a great weekend!

Your home is well suited to grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren. We especially enjoyed being able to bring our dog. We had a great time hiking and mining!

A beautiful spot. Thanks!

The leaves are beautiful! This must be the peak and we are thrilled to be here in the Black Mountains. Your home is lovely and very comfortable. We would like to take the deck and the view home with us.

My mom and I enjoyed the hike to the top of Mt. Mitchell in celebration of her 70th birthday. My 10 and 14 year olds really enjoyed mining at Emerald Village. (We did too!) Thank you so much for your hospitality. It was a joy to be here.

You have provided us the calm, quiet and repose we so badly needed – thank you! We lazed around and did a lot of nothing – although I read 4 novels in 5 days. We really appreciated being able to bring Tucker, who thoroughly enjoyed sniffing every new thing!

All the best,

Sally and Doug M.

 August 21-23, 2009

Thanks so much for a great weekend at your house. We are so glad we chose to get away from Charlotte and stay here in the beautiful mountains. We had so much fun tubing, swimming and just relaxing on this big porch! We will be back soon.

August 17 -19, 2009
We are so glad we made the choice to stay at your GREAT home! Our stay was comfortable and we felt at home. Our family (Bret, Lisa, Emma & Sam) would delightfully return only to stay a little longer, 3 days isn’t long enough. Also thank you for the “welcome gift.” We enjoyed it!
Ron & Karen G., Yorktown, IN

Thank you for your wonderful home! We really enjoyed our time here “way up in the mountains” (as our kids/grandkids told us). We all agreed that we didn’t have enough time here. From gem mining at Gem Mountain, to hiking to see the waterfalls, to cycling, our trips to Burnsville (Appalachian Java is superb!) to Little Switzerland (lunch at the café) it was just perfect. Sam and Emma, our 7-year-old twins, were only disappointed in one thing – NO BEARS were sighted! Thank you for making us feel welcome and for your hospitality. The chilled wine awaiting us was the icing on the cake.

Bret, Lisa, Sam and Emma G., Pittsburgh, PA

July 27 – 29, 2009
We really enjoyed our stay here! It really was “home away from home.” It was so comfortable, we are already planning to come back here. Of course, we would like to stay longer. We’ll definitely tell everyone we know about this place! God bless you and we thank you again for your kindness and professionalism.
The Choe family

July 20 – 23, 2009

We came looking for a place to rest our heads during our Blue Ridge getaway. But what we got was so much more! Treetops Lodge had all the perks of a top-notch hotel, plus the seclusion from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. Our family loved the uniqueness of the floor plan and the greenery that surrounded us. The way in which Becky handled booking the lodge and in days leading up to our arrival was both professional and personal. We intend to visit again and tell our family and friends (but not too many! J)
The Maynards
July 16 – 20, 2009
Joe and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Treetops Lodge. The view was very nice and we loved the peacefulness. Our Boston terrier had a great time on the deck chasing acorns. This was our third wedding anniversary and thanks to your lovely house we had a very special time. We plan to come back in the fall to enjoy the colors your beautiful hardwoods will display.
Joe, Laurie & Roxy,  Johnston, SC

June 20 – July 4, 2009

We have enjoyed our two weeks here. The weather was great. The house is as special as we remembered. Our family joined us for the first week and we did all the things tourists do! The grandkids love catching fireflies and beating grandma at games. The second week was for Bill and I. After teaching all year (1st grade) I needed the peace and quiet! You have a little bit of heaven here, thanks for sharing!

The James Gang

June 13 – 20, 2009

This has been a wonderful week for us! We kept on the go all week and always found things to do. Alan (7) loved playing in the creek on the property and enjoyed having his own room with the spiral stairs to climb. He and Austin (10) really enjoyed tubing at Carolina Hemlocks state park. All 6 of us floated down with lots of rock-bumping and fast flowing water. A great family experience! We enjoyed the location of the cabin – tucked away at Treetops level and so close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. One of our favorite activities was going to Altapass Orchards on Sunday to hear the storytelling, ride in the wagon and listen to the bluegrass music while watching the locals dance! What fun! We managed to get in a lot of hiking: Crabtree Falls, Linville Falls, Craggy Gardens, the top of Mt. Mitchell and also enjoyed walks in the hills around the house. The boys went gem mining , trout fishing, visited Mountain Farm to see the lavender and the goats. We thoroughly enjoyed your house – the 3 floors met our needs and we spent as much time as possible out on the great deck. We sure hope we will be back again sometime. Thank you!

June 6, 2009

Well, we’ve had a wonderful mini-vacation on our way north and would love to come back again when we can stay longer. We’re still searching for that perfect piece of land, but one thing we did accomplish was to fall in love with the area and now we are sure this is where we want to be! Treetops Lodge is beautiful and we are looking forward to being able to summer in the area soon. Thanks for a lovely stay!

 Hi Becky!
We had a wonderful time at Treetops! The leaves are very colorful and beautiful this time of year. The house is so “homey” feeling and when you go outside at night there are a million stars. Our vacation here was very peaceful, relaxing and fun! Can’t wait to come back!
Karen, Mike, Jordan and Lindsay
October 18-25, 2008
Dear Becky,
We had a wonderful time. The leaves were beautiful and we had fun exploring Mt. Mitchell, Asheville, Little Switzerland and the surrounding areas. The duck at the Switzerland Inn was excellent! The best trout is at the Mt. Mitchell restaurant, you have to try it! We didn’t see much wildlife at the house, but there were 2 chipmunks and many turkeys on surrounding roads. Very peaceful, thank you!
Sue, Pat and Ellen, Cary NC
October 12, 2008
Hi Becky, this was a wonderful place for my husband, my children and I to celebrate our 23rd anniversary. I asked for something private, high up and peaceful and this is exactly what I got! It was so perfect… we went hiking and saw 2 of the falls you mentioned, were gorgeous! I took lost of pictures and did some chalk pastels from the deck. I am excited about doing paintings, hopefully one for you! Thanks so much, hopefully we can come back next year or sooner.

As soon as we opened the door, we knew we were home! We had a delightful time. Enjoyed waterfalls and hiking. Saw a bear on the Blue Ridge Parkway and ate some “Hill Billy Ice Cream.” This was quite an amazing 31st wedding anniversary!

Thank you for sharing your mountain home! The weather was great, sun dring the day and some beautiful lightning storms at night. The roads were a challenge at night, coming from flat northern Ohio. We enjoyed mining, shopping for pottery in Burnsville, golfing at Mt Mitchell golf course and seeing the beautiful scenery. This was our first experience staying in the mountains and we’ll surely do it again! Thank you for your hospitality!

Dear Becky,
We would like to thank you so much for sharing your delightful home with us. It is a cozy, comfortable retreat and it felt just like home. All of your advice and tips for things to do and see was a huge help. We loved the hikes and the falls. Thanks again for everything and especially for allowing our dog Tizzie to join us. – Hal and Sara
June 2007
I have to say that this trip was just what we needed. The lodge was amazing and we really had a good time. We went swimming in the Carolina Hemlocks, fishing in the South Toe River, went horseback riding at Springmaid ranch, where the guides were really nice. Went mining at Emerald Village & got lots of goodies. Went to Linville Caverns and again had a wonderful guide, Katie. We did go into Papa’s pizza and asked what the worker recommended and she recommended we walk out the door, so we did, LOL. We finally met Sumo and boy is he big. The first night we were here we heard something REALLY big in the woods and we all thought it was a bear.
I just want to let you know that your hospitality was greatly appreciated and we might see you again soon!    -Crystal & Matt

June 16-23, 2007

Thank you for opening your beautiful home to us for our honeymoon! This place offered exactly the relaxation and easy-going pace we craved. During our week here we went whitewater rafting on the French Broad River in Marshall (ask for Will as your guide, he was fabulous!) gem mining at Gem Mountain, hiking to the falls (Roaring Fork & Crabtree, the latter is not for out-of-shapers), swimming in the swimming hole at Carolina Hemlocks, driving the Blue Ridge Parkway and exploring Asheville & the Cherokee Indian reservation (the latter being very touristy and not what we had expected.) We’ve eaten at some great restaurants & enjoyed grilling on the deck as well. The nearby convenience store in Busick sells a terrific blackberry cider for $4! Most of all, we’ve enjoyed these beautiful surroundings and so appreciated the opportunity to come here to celebrate our new life together. Thank you for being so helpful and accommodating, Becky! Best wishes, Rick & Sharon, Tampa, FL

June 6, 2007
Dear Becky,
We had a wonderful time. Thank you for sharing this amazing home with us. It was an incredible change of pace from our ordinary lives. We enjoyed everything nature has to offer- the scenery, the waterfalls, gem mining, etc. This was something not to be missed. Thank you!       The O’Neil family, Naples, FL

May 26 – June 2, 2007
The Wallace’s from Florida were here: Bob, Julie, Kathryn, Jared and Lauren from Lithia and Bob Sr and Barbara from Lehigh Acres. Weather has been beautiful and cool to us. A hummingbird feeder purchased at Ingle’s our first day has been a constant source of amazement for us! Kathryn: We all met Sumo and had a wonderful time in Treetops Lodge. We enjoyed all the waterfalls in the area, my favorite was Crabtree falls.

April 12 – 15, 2007

Becky, My husband Juston, 2 dogs, Bogie (Australian shepherd) and Elly (Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog/ Cur) & I came and had the most wonderful time relaxing and enjoying this beautiful, peaceful, setting of the Appalachians. The dogs got in the creek and loved just lying on the deck & watching the birds. We hiked a little (up to the top of Big Ridge Rd – made the loop); we found a cut through to the Blue Ridge by taking a left off of Big Ridge onto South Toe River Road & going all the way through the campgrounds and past into the Pisgah National Forest; my husband fished a little, we grilled out on the deck and all-in-all really had one of the best times in the mountains that we have ever had! Thanks so much to you for letting this be a dog-friendly cabin, this is our dogs’ first time to the mountains and I think they are very sad we are leaving today. Justin and I said our biggest regret is that we didn’t stay longer. We’ll definitely be back very soon, most likely this fall.   Kathryn & Justin B., Mobile, AL

What a wonderful home! We came up for some much needed  R&R and got exactly what we were looking for. Not only was the Treetops Lodge perfect, but so was the area! We enjoyed ourselves for 2 nights and are already looking forward to coming back. Our 2 mini dachshunds also loved it, they were very comfortable as if they were at home. Thank you for having such a nice place and having a home we could have our “babies” with us. Joe, Nancy, Rusty & Little Molly, Lake Wylie, SC
Month of August 2006
Hello all, this has been a very much needed relaxing break for the Martin family. We’ve prepared many gourmet meals from the little kitchen. We brought 3 ice chests filled with seafood, venison, etc from the Low Country of SC. Found the Amish grocery store out of Burnsville and the local grocery on 80 towards the Parkway. Had the most awesome fresh tomatoes, made fresh salsa and used in our crab benedict!!
Walks to the waterfalls, Burnsville arts & crafts festival, Spruce Pine Gen show and so much more. As I pack to go home to the 90 degree heat, it’s really hard to leave!!!Thanks for all the information you provided before we arrived and for having everything so homey and comfortable for our stay. Warm regards, Mike, Deborah, Lindsay & Sarah, St. Helina Island, SC

I can’t think of anything more relaxing than sitting on the deck here at Treetops Lodge & watching the clouds move over Mt Mitchell! We hiked Mt Mitchell, went to the 3 local waterfalls and spent a day at Blowing Rock. It has been a wonderful week and we’ve enjoyed our stay here. Thank you for making this place such a home away from home for us this week. Fondly, Gary & Barb, Lisa & Tim & Grandpa, Wesley Chapel, Jax, Dunedin

July 4, 2006

We enjoyed the use of your beautiful home. While in the area, we took in several waterfalls and hikes. We also took a day trip to Asheville and the Cradle of Forestry. We enjoyed a day of gem mining at Emerald Village. We are happy to announce that we did, in fact, strike it rich at the gem mine! Our family celebrated the 4th at the top of Mt Mitchell with a hike and a great picnic. All-in-all we had a great time enjoying nature and just relaxing. We also enjoyed getting to know “Sumo” – don’t worry, we didn’t let him in the house, but he was very friendly! J Thanks, we had a great time! Rhonda and Gary, New Port Richey, FL

June 23 – July 1, 2006
Becky & Scott, Our family had a fantastic time at Treetops Lodge. The photos we saw prior to coming do not do it justice. The view from the deck is beautiful and Drew and Laurel had a great time catching fireflies on the deck at night. We made the drive/hike to Setrock Creek Falls. It was gorgeous and Laurel loved walking through the forest. A nice park ranger at Black Mountain Campground told us about a swimming hole just a short distance from the parking lot and we had a great swim. Bbrr. We also found a great restaurant in downtown historic Spruce Pine, Lazy Susan’s. Great place for family-style dinner, great fried chicken! Thanks again! Mark, Krista, Drew & Laurel, Naples, FL

May 21 – 24, 2006

We had a great time at Treetops for our mini-family-reunion. We took a side trip to Burnsville, driving through the clouds & had a great lunch at the Garden Deli. The next day was sunny & we took a trip up the Parkway with a stop at Little Switzerland & its fabulous bookstore. We enjoyed the view, played games around the fire and appreciated having the lower level for the boys to play their video games. All in all we had a great time. Thanks so much! October 16-20, 2005

Becky, Thanks for a wonderful stay at Treetops. The weather was so perfect for us, coming from Florida. We needed a break from the heat! We watched as the colors became more vibrant with each passing day. The deck is such a tranquil place to be and to read while drinking in the mountains. We so enjoyed making a fire in the evening and upon arising each morning. We hope to return again. Blessings on you, Steve & Cindy, New Smyrna Beach, FL

October 16, 2005
Hi Becky, This is our third time here and we enjoy it as much as the first time! Your attention to the little things like paper towels, spices, trash bags, etc make our stay effortless. We found a great hike in the Black Mountain campground called the River Loop. Very quiet and peaceful. The weather was very cooperative, in the 70s by day and 50s by night. Karen enjoys reading on the deck while the kids play hide and seek. Our nights are spent watching a movie next to the fireplace downstairs. We had yet another great weekend here at Treetops. Thanks for all you do!
Mike and Karen, Raleigh NC

August 30, 2005

Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us. The view is amazing. Creek sounds nice from the deck. Had fun hiking all around, Roaring Fork Falls was the best. Not as flat as Florida here – got plenty of exercise and fresh mountain air. Hope to do it again someday soon. You have a lovely home in the woods.

Dear Becky, It has been an enjoyable 3 weeks at Treetops Lodge! Justin, our grandson, will tell all his friends about his great summer. He had fun pulling golf balls from the river and hiking the Mt LeConte trail. Treetops was wonderful and the large deck was most enjoyable. We do not want to leave but we look forward to next summer!
Best wishes! Shault, Willie & Justin, Naples FL

July 16, 2005

Dear Becky, Fay, Shault’s sister and I drove in from Brevard this morning to check out this place. We’ve had great weather, no rain and we hiked to Roaring Fork falls. Tis a lovely spot just as I knew it would be and I’m looking forward to August 1.
Fleda, Naples FL

July 1, 2005

Thank you Grafers! I know that I speak for everyone when I say we had a wonderful time. Steve and I and our adult children quickly fell into the groove of mountain living. Just the sound of the brook and the wind rustling the leaves brought back fond memories of living in upstate NY and a vow to live in the mountains again someday. We hiked, we fished, we rafted, we golfed by day—at night we made a fire (because it was novel!) and played games. Treetops accommodated up perfectly—just wish we could have stayed longer.
Deb, Steve, Erik, Dave, Sahhon & Ryan, Florida

June 29, 2005

My husband and I just spent our 1-year anniversary here and had a great time. No kids, no pets, just us! The lodge was great and we will be back when we can stay longer, maybe bring the kids. The little things meant a lot, like the picnic basket, dog treats for the bears and the hair dryer. For the adventurous types, the 12 mile hike from the house to Roaring Fork Fallas and back out to Big Ridge Rd was great. There was plenty to do and see here, or if you prefer to do nothing at all, the views are beautiful.
The Williams

PS – Just kidding about the bears, Big Ridge loop is about 2 miles a great morning hike!

Thanks so much for letting us stay in this cabin! The fireplace was awesome. The closest thing we have to a fireplace is a stove. We followed the creek all the way to the river. We were so tired. I have to do this again!
Tyler, Mooresville NC

Dec. 18 – 23, 2004

We had a splendiferous time. The view was breathtaking. We hiked to the two waterfalls you had in your Cabin Travel Guide. We used the fireplace every day because we don’t have one in Florida. The house was very comfortable. On Sunday we had a fresh snowfall and on Monday it never got warmer than 25 degrees! Thanks for letting us rent the cabin for a week. We had so much fun, we’ll never forget the time we had. Thanks again!

November 6-13, 2004

We had a wonderful time. Great views and good weather. The house was more than comfortable for family and friends. Great central location – 1 hour to Asheville and 1 ½ to Boone. We did it all. The Biltmore was fabulous! Blowing Rock was adorable as usual. Yesterday it rained so we drove to Spruce Pine to check it out. What a treat- quaint homey little railroad town. Good coffee shop. Loved our visit in the mountains, now back to the shore! We’ll be back.

Nov. 1, 2004

Both of our families had a wonderful time in this beautiful cabin with the most picture perfect view of Mt. Mitchell. We all ventured throughout the area from Grandfather Mountain to Roaring Fork Falls down the road. All the boys said they had the best Halloween ever when they hiked up Grandfather Mountain and got across the bridge with 50mph winds. They thought this place was special and so do we.

Ed and I had a wonderful time being here. Oh, I must mention Zoe and Spot our two rat terriers. Now I plan to come back next year with our daughters. Sitting around all day just reading and resting has been pleasurable. Now we’ve found the perfect place to rest!

Had a wonderful time exploring all of the sites! The waterfalls were fun, as well as Grandfather Mountain, a must see! For family fun, check out the Tweetsie Railroad, Linville Caverns (awesome and a nice gift shop) or go gem mining for treasure! The mountains are beautiful and I had a fun time while I was here with my family!

It’s such a wonderful place to spend some vacation time. We enjoyed the full line-up of accommodations and weren’t expecting to feel so “at home” here! It was a wonderful experience and certainly we’ll come back for more!

Our family had a wonderful time! Your house is very cozy and a nice house. We all really hope to come back soon and enjoy another outstanding vacation! I loved your house, I’m always excited to come back to your welcoming home. My sister and I loved to explore and play hide-and0go-seek throughout your house. PS I loved your chandelier.

WOW!!! Good times in the country!!! Great house here in the hills. Weather was just right. Air was sweet as the water and the folks. Biked up Mt. Mitchell, it kicked my butt! Hike, ate and lived everything. Music was the best.  – Box Carr, Brooklyn NY
What can I say: 8 years of dreaming of riding up Mt Mitchell and I finally did it. Not just once, but 3 times this trip. Thanks Becky – the chalet was the bonus for me, great friends, great food, great people, killer time. We’ll be back. – Rocky, Brooklyn NY
PS – Some of the greatest music I have ever listened to.

I had such a great time in this wonderful little cabin! I’m 17 and was here with my two little cousin’s 11 and 8, and my sister, 18. There was so much for us to do just around the house – we caught baby crawfish in the little stream and walked to Roaring Fork Falls. It’s a beautiful spot with a great view of Mt Mitchell from the back deck. Thanks for sharing this wonderful area with us!

We spent 10 days here and had such a terrific time! This house has a comfortable “at-home” feel about it—very relaxing. Lotsa rain the first 4 days and chamber-of-commerce weather since. Mid 70s to 80 with no humidity… great for us Floridians.
We rented tubes at the BP station and spent a lot of time of the South Toe River over by the Carolina Hemlocks campgrounds. It’s a great spot for kids and adults both. Mt Mitchell golf course is very scenic and well-groomed (cart path only was a pain) and the Grassy Creek course over on 226 in Spruce Pine is a fun little mountain course for all you golfers. Thanks again Becky. We’ll be back. It was a lovely and memorable stay.

We had a wonderful time. The days were beautiful, the trout were biting and the house is perfect. I think we have found our new home away from home. It’s hard to leave such a view as this.

We enjoyed the beauty of your perfect setting in the mountains. It was sunny in the day and cool enough at night to light a fire. The golf course is beautiful! We will definitely be back. Our dog Kharma loved getting in the creek and taking sunbaths on the porch. We also enjoyed the drive to Burnsville and the charming shops and people there. We are already planning a trip to come back when we can stay a full week.

This is like living in a treehouse! The deck is awesome. It’s a cozy place to get away from it all. In keeping with the deer antler theme, we saw several live deer on our morning walks. Hope to return soon.
